Wooden Planter - Collage and Napkin Decoupage

Hello..

I promise myself every year to be up to date with seasons during creation. I mean, to make something that reflects the time of the year or refers to it with subject or colours. It sometimes happened to make a black vase with pansies or a black and white  cameo jewellery box in the summer and a photo frame with pansies or flowerpot with herbal motif in the winter.

 Once I  got a wooden flower pot as a gift and I fell in love with its shape.

I bought some more of them. Here you can find a suggestion of collage made with use of a napkin and paper, hand-painted. You can find it in my shop.

This week has been very busy for me. My small utility room, how horribly it sounds as a name for the place of my creativity, has gone through a little transformation.

I did that for two reasons.

Where Bloggers Create 2013 organised by a wonderful Karen Valentine is coming soon and it will take place on July 12th. I have to admit that I have been waiting

 for it for the whole year.  I will not reveal the second reason of my makeover just yet.....

Shabby Chic Photo Frame - 3D Decoration

  As far as can I remember there were so many decoupage works which came into being more or less attractive.

Majority went to the bin after a short time of anger and questioning myself why there were so many creases.

I am glad it never saw daylight. There was just one person who used to say ‘what you made is beautiful, don’t throw it away’ but my anger was endless.

This picture frame which I managed to finish not using decoupage came to mind randomly like most of my early craft work.

 

I simply used 3D structural paste which I had a chance to work with later on.

The frame is in shabby chic style. I have aged this using this style to show the signs of wear with red colour for the base and cream on the top.

Ornaments are in the shape of little delicate roses surrounding on each side. 

 

Currently it decorates my former neighbour’s desk.

I was able to dig out only two shots from my old photo gallery.

I’ll tell you more about the shabby chic style soon in my 'TUTORIALS' category. I’m going to decorate three containers for spices.

Shabby Chic Gift Idea - Decoupage On Wood

  An upcoming wedding prompted me to look for a dress. Never mind that I have several to choose from, fashion changes and taste does as well.
I will never tire of the rose and of roses, however. I have quite a few in my steadily growing napkin collection.

The beginnings of my efforts were not easy, as I was not familiar with the technique or the materials used. I was however quite proud of the final effect.
If I recall correctly this is my first decoupage picture frame done with the napkin technique. You can admire the results yourself.

  The frame was finished with a velvet ribbon and a matte acrylic lacquer with a delicate tint around the edges of the frame - shabby chic style.

  In this piece I also first experienced working with a glue gun.
  I think the picture frame would make a lovely wedding souvenir. 

Returning to my dress - guess what I found in my closet .... a black and white dress with roses. Well, better late than never.
