Patchwork Photo Frame - Vintage Home Decor Ideas

Patchwork or a pieced work is a very popular form of needle work by sowing together pieces of fabric so it makes a coherent form. For anybody who likes this form of work here I have a patchwork photo frame made with paper napkin.

The photo frames were the first objects I started to work with while learning how to decoupage.

This romantic photo frame can be a fantastic gesture for mother's day, anniversary or birthday.

Shabby Chic Photo Frame - 3D Decoration

As far as can I remember there were so many decoupage works which came into being more or less attractive.
Majority went to the bin after a short time of anger and questioning myself why there were so many creases.
I am glad it never saw daylight. There was just one person who used to say ‘what you made is beautiful, don’t throw it away’ but my anger was endless.
This picture frame which I managed to finish not using decoupage came to mind randomly like most of my early craft work.

I simply used 3D structural paste which I had a chance to work with later on.
The frame is in shabby chic style. I have aged this using this style to show the signs of wear with red colour for the base and cream on the top.
Ornaments are in the shape of little delicate roses surrounding on each side.

Currently it decorates my former neighbour’s desk.
I was able to dig out only two shots from my old photo gallery.
I’ll tell you more about the shabby chic style soon in my 'TUTORIALS' category. I’m going to decorate three containers for spices.
At the same time you will see decoupage on metal step-by-step.

Shabby Chic Gift Idea - Decoupage On Wood

An upcoming wedding prompted me to look for a dress. Never mind that I have several to choose from, fashion changes and taste does as well.
I will never tire of the rose and of roses, however. I have quite a few in my steadily growing napkin collection.
The beginnings of my efforts were not easy, as I was not familiar with the technique or the materials used. I was however quite proud of the final effect.
If I recall correctly this is my first decoupage picture frame done with the napkin technique.
You can admire the results yourself.

The frame was finished with a velvet ribbon and a matte acrylic lacquer with a delicate tint around the edges of the frame - shabby chic style.

In this piece I also first experienced working with a glue gun.
I think the picture frame would make a lovely wedding souvenir.

Returning to my dress - guess what I found in my closet .... a black and white dress with roses. Well, better late than never.

Here are "rosey" things from my favourite shops.

Welcome To Selenarte

Do I have to introduce myself firstly or already paste a picture?

These and other questions have been stirring up my head up to now.
I had cut and glued the pieces of paper onto the ceramic objects before I discovered a real mystery of decoupage.
This is how it started:  I was slowly revealing this addictive art of decorating being a diligent student of University.
This blog among others is dedicated to my university friend Justyna who unwittingly introduced to me this technique and directed to anybody who would like to see my wrestle with brush, paint and paper.

My real name is Joanna and I moved from Poland to Cornwall several years ago when I had a chance to do my work training from the university. With real passion and dedication I am constantly mastering my lingual and garden skills.

Completely resistant for all kind of my mum’s craft training after all these years I got caught on doing a little bit of jewellery, felting and eventually stayed with decoupage.

But this wasn’t easy at the beginning. When I ask my friend to send me her beautiful ceramic bowls I was extremely convinced that she does panting on glass. When I received it I was slightly disappointed but I wasn’t brave enough to tell her it wasn’t what I expected.
While after I asked what she did to decorate them.
Timidly I tried to get more and more information about decoupage but it wasn’t right to ask the artist about her secrets.
I spend a lot of time on searching how to make and what materials to use and even gave up for a while. After almost a year I came back with twice the enthusiasm which lasts up to today.

During what I call my virtual journey I will share with you my craft work, some tips and other interesting creations from other artists and everything what I learnt by myself just with a little bit faith in your dreams.

When I was a little girl I was saying I am made for something.
Today I know I am made for making something from nothing.
This is what I call decoupage.
That’s why love your dreams and don’t be afraid to come it true.
